My Dear Readers,
This summer, we are staying close to home, and each week we dedicate a family day to a unique summer activity (that’s within a 2-hour drive from our home). Being on the east coast means that the beach is never too far away. In fact, the more often we head to the water’s edge, the more we love it. The sun, sand, and surf beckon us to relax and unwind. Our trunk is prepped with our beach mats, chairs, sun tent, umbrella, hats sunscreen, hydration and snacks. Of course, Castile Soap comes to the beach with us, and I’d like to share some of the ways that Whole Naturals is useful during our weekly seaside adventure.
Gentle on the Skin and Environment
One of the most significant advantages of Whole Naturals Castile soap is its gentle nature. Made from organic plant-based oils, including as olive oil and coconut oil, it is free from harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and artificial additives. This makes it suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin that might get irritated by the harsh elements at the beach. Ocean swimming means salty water, and it definitely leaves a residue on our skin. I prepare our 2 in 1 body wash / shampoo in a recycled shampoo bottle and pack it in our beach bags. Its gentle cleansing properties will help remove sand, salt, and sunscreen residue, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and clean. Since our Castile soap is biodegradable and environmentally friendly, it won't harm marine life when washed off in the ocean.
I wanted to add some extra tips about transitioning to Castile Soap Shampoo from commercial shampoo. At the beginning, you may find that your hair feels stiff, or dry, but don't worry - it takes a while for all the build-up from commercial shampoos to be washed away.
Castile Soap for Your Hygiene
Our days at the beach are long – we arrive early in the morning, and love to stay to watch the sunset. Because we spend the entire day at the beach, we have found it crucial to maintain good hygiene, especially before meals or after using public facilities (and in our experience, some facilities are more well-equipped than others!) In a portable bottle, we keep on hand one of our favorite recipes for Castile soap as a DIY hand sanitizer. Mix a few drops of Castile soap with water and add a few drops of essential oil, such as lavender or tea tree oil, for their natural antibacterial properties. Squeeze on your hands and rub together. Works great in a pinch!
How do you care for your Beach Gear?
Some companies advise to only hand wash swim suits. Castile soap works just as well for hand washing as well as machine washing. My go-to recipe is adding a small amount Castile Soap to a bucket of water and soaking our gear to get rid of any dirt or residue. After rinsing thoroughly, I hang it to try, ready for our next adventure!
Before repacking our gear, we often will give our sand toys a quick spray. It gets rid of any caked-on mess, and keeps our car sand free.
Castile Soap – Your perfect Beach companion
Our days at the beach are never dull. We bring board games, and we’ve even tried surfing lessons. Some of the beaches we’ve traveled to have been poorly maintained, and we have joined clean up days, which means we spend our time disposing of trash and collecting recyclable bottles. Our summer excursions have included forest hikes, bike riding, and the braver members of our family have even tried zip lining! Time is flying! We’re about half way through the summer, and the second half will be just as fun. We hope that the next time you pack your beach bag, don't forget to include Whole Naturals Castile Soap - your perfect beach companion!
Cheers!
