Time for Spring Cleaning

My Dear Readers,

I am an early riser. I find that I'm most energetic in the morning, and when our house is quiet, I find that I can be super productive. Whether it's writing this weekly blog, prepping for meals or even drinking a warm cup of tea, mornings are meditative and sacred.

It's been about 3 weeks now and I've noticed that it's getting brighter when I awake, and that is a great mood elevator. In fact, I am most content with this time of year, when the cold weather and grey days start making room for sunny skies and higher temperatures. As winter 2023 heads to the rearview, it's time to put away the heavy duvets and start spring cleaning.

Assembly Line or Room by Room?

Each year I try to strategize the best way to begin. A few years ago, I decided that I would tackle one room at a time. I gathered my supplies in my trusty caddy and headed into a room. I would not come out until the room sparkled. The best part of this method is that I focused on one space at a time, and when it was done, it was a sight to behold. This worked best, especially if I knew that I would be hosting guests. I found a sense of accomplishment when an entire space was completed. Then I would move on to the next.

This year, I'm changing it up! My plan is to try to clean my home "assembly line style". Let me explain. Now that my kids are getting a bit older, I want them to start taking more responsibility for the care and upkeep of our home, and it will start with the window sills. I plan on starting by cleaning the window sills of my entire house first. I'll mix my favorite "All Purpose Castile Soap" Spray and have it ready with some rags.

Then, we'll go from room to room, and within about an hour every window sill in my home will be dust free, and my house will smell amazing! (I'm in a lavender mood this year). The great part of this strategy is the fact everyone can roll up their sleeves and pitch in. In fact, while the family is working on the sills, I'll take down any fabric drapes and throw them in the wash!

Not sure what I'll do next when the sills are done...maybe the furniture? How do you tackle your spring cleaning? Let me know!
