THREE Amazing Castile Soap Recipes That will revolutionize the way you clean!

Updated: May 9, 2022

Looking to maximize the benefits of Whole Naturals Castile Soap? We have some recipes that will you will love!

1. FACE WASH

Castile Soap, the Magic from the Mediterranean is a concentrated solution that is so versatile it will become the ONLY cleaner you will need. On its own, Whole Naturals Castile Soap, can leave the skin feeling dry. With a little tweaking, you can customize your face wash for a personalized experience.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup liquid Whole Naturals Castile Soap

  • 2 Tbl distilled water or rose hydrosol (rose water)

  • 1 Tbl nourishing oil such as: sweet almond, olive, or jojoba

Try customizing with aloe, honey, or a hydrosol (in place of the water).

Optional:

Aloe Vera Gel: Aloe is used to soothe and calm inflammation. Add 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel to the face wash, or more if desired. Fresh aloe will spoil within a day or two, so we recommend looking for a store-bought option with a minimal amount of (natural) preservatives.

Honey: Honey is rich in antioxidants and it contains antibacterial properties. Add 1-2 tablespoons of honey to the final soap, and gently shake to combine the Ingredients. If you add honey you won’t be able to use the face wash in a spray bottle.

Essential Oils: Add 6-12 drops of your favorite skin-friendly essential oil (or a mixture of essential oils, for a total of 6 drops) to the nourishing oil. Combine the oil and soap (along with any other custom Ingredients mentioned above). Our favorite options: lavender (sensitive skin and acne-prone skin), tea tree (acne-prone skin), frankincense (aging skin), geranium (aging skin), or sandalwood (aging skin). TIPS If you find this face wash to be too drying for your skin, add more oil or dilute with more water.

2. DIY MAKEUP BRUSH CLEANER

Non-toxic and natural, this makeup brush cleaner works to remove dirt, grease, and other pore-clogging debris from makeup brushes. Use weekly!

Ingredients

1/4 cup water

2 Tbl witch hazel

Generous squirt Whole Naturals Castile Soap

Instructions

Mix the Ingredients together in a drinking glass or small bowl. Add the makeup brushes to the mixture. Swish the brushes back and forth in the mixture and then let them soak for a few minutes. The mixture will go from clear to dirty very quickly. After a few minutes, remove the brushes, dump the solution, and rinse the brushes under fresh, clean water. Let the brushes rest on a towel to completely dry. TIP This makeup brush cleaner is designed used for a one-time cleaning. Discard the solution when finished.

3. FLOOR CLEANER

Ready to create an all-purpose floor cleaner for all surfaces? This solution may be safe for sealed wood floors and other common household surfaces, since the pH of Whole Naturals Castile Soap is around 8.9 (a pH of 7 is neutral). Always spot test first (a couple of times) before applying any cleaning product to any surface! We’ve also learned, from some major trial and error, that’s important to talk to a floor expert about the best way to clean a particular floor (what kind of Ingredients/methods to avoid in particular), since there are so many different types of floor surfaces today.

Ingredients

2 gallons hot water

2 tablespoons Whole Naturals Castile Soap

5 drops pine essential oil or tea tree essential oil, (or your preferred essential oil scent)

Instructions

Add the hot water to a bucket, then the liquid Whole Naturals Castile Soap and essential oil. Gently stir the Ingredients together – to avoid bubbles.

TIPS: Dip a mop into the solution, then mop the floor. Do not saturate the floor while mopping. Once the floor is clean, discard the dirty water and fill the bucket with 2 more gallons of hot water (no soap this time), wipe the floor with the mop and clean water. If you feel this ratio is too soapy, then reduce the soap ratio to 1 tablespoon of Whole Naturals Castile Soap to 2 gallons of hot water. If your test spot has a soapy residue, then you know you’ll want to tweak the ratio.
