My Dear Readers,

Depending upon where you're living, the warm weather has been transitioning to cooler temperatures, heading into the cold blustery, winter weather. With full disclosure - I actually don't mind cold weather! When it's a sunny, but cold day, I like wearing layers, heading out to enjoy nature and watching my breath steam up the windows. The short dark days can keep me in, but the moment the sun is out, you'll be able to find me enjoying the vitamin D.

I wanted to spend this week's blog on the care and keeping of Whole Naturals Castile Soap - because I think it's super important to understand the manufacturing process, and best storage methods.

During the winter season - I often get this question from our community:

"I received my soap - but I noticed that it's white and opaque instead of transparent. What happened? Is it still safe to use?"

The journey of our Castile Soap begins with production - labeling and bottling our certified organic carrier oils. From there, the magic happens. Logistics send our bottles to distributions warehouses throughout the United States, where each bottle anxiously awaits its time to get delivered to your home. Whether in the warehouse, or while out on delivery, it is not uncommon for Castile soap to appear cloudy/whitish when you receive it. The low temperatures sometimes freeze the fresh, organic elements of our Castile Soap. No worries! the Castile Soap will return to its translucent appearance once it returns to room temperature. The quality, effectiveness, and usefulness of our Whole Naturals Castile Soap are not affected by temperature changes. Once your soap arrives, we suggest keeping it a room temperature, in a dry location - away from direct sunlight.

Another frequently asked question is:

"Is there an expiry or best-before date?"

Unlike food or cosmetics, Castile Soap does not have an expiry date. Because Castile soap doesn’t contain any chemicals or artificial additives, it typically has a shelf life of about 2 years from the manufacturer's date. How can you tell the date of manufacture? Easy! Take a look at your bottle and look for the stamp - it will look like this:

Whole Naturals Castile Soap Expiry Date

And here's how to decipher the numbers:

This bottle says: 23C722

  • 23 means the 23rd day of the month

  • "C" means that batch of the day (the day is divided into A, B, C, D, etc.)

  • "7" means the 7th month (so July), and...

  • "22" means the year....

So this bottle was produced on July 23, 2022

Storing your soap in a non-humid environment will keep it fresh and great smelling! While Whole Naturals Castile Soap does not have (nor need) an expiry date, we run vigorous quality control on our manufacturing so that we know exactly when each bottle was produced!

And finally,

I want to premix a gallon of laundry detergent - how long will it stay fresh on the shelf?

When you introduce water (or any liquid) into a product without a preservative you always run the risk of introducing bacteria. If you'll be adding glycerin, essential oils, aloe Vera etc., I recommend making small batches that can be used within about one month. If it becomes discolored or smells unpleasant, discard the batch. The best storage conditions for our soap are a dry, room temperature location, away from direct sunlight.

If you haven’t tried Whole Naturals Castile Soap for yourself yet, the time has come - and through the end of November, save 10% on every purchase!! It’s the most versatile soap on the market created with the finest ingredients imaginable. Your skin will thank you for it!

Cheers!
