History of Castile Soap
Historically, Castile Soap usage seems to coincide with personal hygiene routines recorded as early as the 11th century. Production of Castile Soap began in the Castile Region of Spain where there was an abundance of olive oil (its primary ingredient). Over time, its popularity and reach throughout Europe increased, and it became commercially available. Since then, variations of Castile soap were made by combining other readily available and inexpensive plant-based oils – including coconut, hemp, jojoba, and palm oil. Long before “veganism” gained popularity, Castile Soap was always animal fat-free.
Today, Whole Naturals Castile Soap is made from USDA organic oils – including prickly pear, argan, jojoba, olive, apricot, almond & hemp oils. We are proud to let our community know that we are the first Castile Soap Company to be certified Palm Oil Free by POFCAP.
